UBU Welcomes Delegation from Sekong Province, Lao PDR, and Monsoon Wind Power Company Limited during Scholarship Student Monitoring Visit

On 26 June 2026, Ubon Ratchathani University (UBU) welcomed a high-level delegation from the Lao People’s Democratic Republic (Lao PDR) and executives from Monsoon Wind Power Company Limited during an official visit to monitor the academic progress of scholarship students and discuss future directions for joint human resource development. The meeting was held at the Buntharik Meeting Room, Office of the President Building, Ubon Ratchathani University. 

Assistant Professor Dr. Griengsak Kaewkulchai, Vice President for Administration, presided over the welcoming ceremony for the delegation from Lao PDR, led by Mr. Khantee Silavongsa, Secretary of the Sekong Provincial Party Committee, along with executives from Monsoon Wind Power Company Limited, led by Mr. Chawalit Khanchaiyaphoom, Area Director and Head of Community Development.

The visit aimed to meet with and monitor Lao scholarship students who have received educational support from Monsoon Wind Power Company Limited. Currently, ten scholarship recipients are pursuing undergraduate studies at UBU: five in the Faculty of Agriculture, four in the Faculty of Science, and one in the Faculty of Engineering. 

During the meeting, Assistant Professor Dr. Oranuch Puangsuk, Assistant to the President for International Relations and Education, presented an overview ofthe students’ academic progress, along withthe University’s management and support services available to international students. These initiatives are designed to help students study effectively, succeed academically, and enjoy a positive and enriching experience throughout their time at UBU. 

Mr. Khantee Silavongsa also addressed the scholarship students, encouraging them to remain determined and committed to their studies so that, upon graduation, they may apply their knowledge to the development of Sekong Province, Lao PDR. He also reminded the students to recognize their roles and responsibilities and to strictly comply with the University’s regulations and the laws of Thailand.

Meanwhile, Mr. Chawalit Khanchaiyaphoom shared information on upcoming regional development initiatives and human resource development plans in Sekong Province. He also expressed the company’sinterest in strengthening collaboration with UBU through academic support and the transfer of relevant technologies, particularly in the areas of temperate crop cultivation and smart greenhouse development.

Representatives from the Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Science, and Faculty of Engineering also participated in discussions on expanding academic cooperation. Proposed areas of collaboration included the joint development of research projects and proposals for international funding, personnel training programs, and collaborative academic service initiatives. 

The meeting marked another important step in strengthening educational cooperation and promotingsustainable human resource development in the Indochina region.
