On 12 March 2026, Ubon Ratchathani University (UBU), led by Associate Professor Dr. Chutinun Prasitpuriprecha, President of the University, together with the university’s executive team, warmly welcomed H.E. Mr. Evgeny Tomikhin, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Kingdom of Thailand, and his delegation during their official visit to the university. The visit aimed to strengthen academic relations and explore opportunities for future collaboration between educational institutions in Thailand and the Russian Federation. The meeting also provided an opportunity to exchange views on expandingbilateral cooperation, particularly in the areas of economicand educational development. The reception took place at the Warin Chamrap Meeting Room, Office of the President Building 2, UBU.
On this occasion, Associate Professor Dr. Chutinun Prasitpuriprecha presented an overview of Ubon Ratchathani University, highlighting its academic programs, research initiatives, and international collaboration networks with universities worldwide. The discussion also explored potential avenues for expanding academic cooperation, as well as student and faculty exchange programs, between Ubon Ratchathani University and universities in the Russian Federation in the future.
Following the meeting, H.E. Mr. Evgeny Tomikhin delivered a special lecture titled “Russia–Thailand Relations and Russia in Modern Foreign Policy” to more than 100 students and faculty members. The lecture attracted significant interest from participants, who actively engaged in a lively question-and-answer session. Students from the Faculty of Political Science showed particular enthusiasm, reflecting a strong interest in contemporary international relations and global political dynamics.
This visit marked an important opportunity to strengthen academic ties and foster future collaboration between higher education institutions in Thailand and the Russian Federation.
