Ubon Ratchathani University (UBU), represented by students from the Department of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, achieved outstanding success by winning four awards, including the First Prize and the Royal Trophy graciously bestowed by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, along with three runner-up awards at the National Structural Engineering Creative Competition 2026. The competition was held at the Faculty of Engineering, Rajamangala University of Technology Rattanakosin (Salaya Campus), on February 12–13, 2026.
The National Structural Engineering Creative Competition serves as a prestigious platform for students to demonstrate their knowledge and technical expertise in structural engineering. Participants are required to integrate and apply theoretical concepts from various academic courses to real-world structural design challenges. The competition not only fosters analytical thinking and innovation but also cultivates teamwork, planning skills, and inter-institutional collaboration.
The event featured three categories:
1. The 18th Ice-Cream Stick Structure Competition
2. The 10th Wood and Steel Structure Competition
3. The 6th Bamboo Chopstick Structure Competition
A total of 42 institutions and 98 teams from across Thailand participated in this national-level contest.
UBU sent four teams from the Department of Civil Engineering, and all four teams received awards. The students were advised and coached by Associate Professor Dr. Kittisak Khantiyawichai, Assistant Professor Dr. Wiwat Puatasananon, and Mr. Kriangkrai Boonsai, who provided training and support as part of the department’s ongoing commitment to student skill development.

Winning four national awards highlights another outstanding achievementfor Ubon Ratchathani University.
