TAIWAN – Ubon Ratchathani University (UBU), led by President Associate Professor Dr. Chutinun Prasitpuriprecha, continues to drive its strategy for international educational excellence. From November 24-28, 2025, the UBU executive team visited the Republic of China (Taiwan) to solidify academic and professional collaborations with four leading educational institutions and private sector organizations. The mission focused on developing highly competent graduates for the global labor market through practical internships and co-developed curricula.

The delegation included Assistant Professor Dr. Charuwan Thanawirun (Vice President for Academic Affairs), Assistant Professor Dr. Oranuch Puangsuk (Assistant to the President for International Relations and Education), Associate Professor Dr. Surasak Khamkhong (Dean, Faculty of Liberal Arts), Assistant Professor Dr. Natthawut Sukprasong (Chair, Chinese and Communication Program), Associate Professor Dr. Chawalit Thinwongpitak (Director, UBU Science Park), and Mr. Kanatkit Thongpoon (Lecturer, Department of International Business Management).

The visit resulted in key strategic developments across four major areas:

1. Strengthening Green Industry Alliances at Tex Year Group. The executive team met with Mr. Larry Yang, Area Sales Director of Tex Year Group, a global leader in eco-friendly adhesives and materials with nine production bases worldwide operating under a "Sustainable Philosophy." Tex Year Group agreed to accept UBU students for internships (March–May) in R&D, Marketing, and Human Resources. Furthermore, the company offers potential employment opportunities upon graduation for students proficient in English and Chinese, aligning directly with UBU’s "Chinese for Industry" coursework.

2. Expanding into Agritech Innovation with Unimicron Corporation. Discussions were held with executives at Unimicron Corporation, a global leader in PCB and IC Carrier manufacturing. Beyond engineering collaborations, the partnership was expanded to include the Faculty of Agriculture. This initiative opens doors for UBU students to intern and learn about Unimicron’s agricultural innovations, specifically "Bio-fortification" and "Smart Environmental Control Systems." This aligns with UBU’s Smart Farming goals, allowing students to experience global industrial management and precision agriculture technologies.

3. Advancing Cross-Border Curricula at Lunghwa University of Science and Technology (LHU) The delegation met with Dr. Tzu-Hsiang Ko, President of LHU, to track the progress of the "3+1+2 Engineering Program" initiated in September 2025.

  • Educational Philosophy: LHU emphasized producing "Practical and Work-Ready" graduates, with committed scholarship and stipend support from industry partners.
  • Curriculum Development: UBU proposed initiating a Certificate Program in Engineering as a pilot project, paving the way for future Joint or Double Degree programs.
  • Liberal Arts Collaboration: The partnership will also expand to include the Faculty of Liberal Arts and LHU’s Department of Applied Foreign Languages to strengthen students' linguistic capabilities.
4. Connecting with Global Research at Taiwan Tech The team visited National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (Taiwan Tech), Taiwan’s top-ranked technological university, and was welcomed by Prof. Shun-Feng Su, Executive Vice President. Taiwan Tech expressed readiness to support UBU students through the TEEP Scholarship (Taiwan Education Experience Program), focusing on English proficiency and Problem-based Learning.

Additionally, during the visit, the executive team rallied support for UBU Business School students—Mr. Kritpachara Suthammara, Ms. Pattaraporn Chinwong, and Mr. Manatsanon Sodakun—who represented the university in the 4th Global Talent Entrepreneurship Program competition held at the Business Incubation Center, Taiwan Tech.
