Ubon Ratchathani University (UBU), through the Faculty of Science, in collaboration with Graduate School of NanoBioScience, Yokohama City University (YCU), Japan, jointly organized the Thailand–Japan Mini-Symposium 2025 under the theme “Nano Frontiers for Net-Zero Energy and Intelligent Sensing: Innovation in Materials Science and Sensor Technology for Sustainable Quality of Life.” The event, held from 31 October to 1 November 2025 at UBU, served as a platform for international researchers and experts to exchange knowledge, strengthen academic networks, and advance innovation in materials science, nanotechnology, clean energy, and intelligent sensing.
The opening ceremony was presided over by Associate Professor Dr. Chutinun Prasitpuriprecha, President of Ubon Ratchathani University, with opening remarks delivered by Professor Dr. Siriporn Jungsuttiwong, Dean of the Faculty of Science. Professor Dr. Masanori Tachikawa, Dean of Graduate School of NanoBioScience, Graduate School of NanoBioScience, Yokohama City University also attended to represent YCU and reaffirm the institutional commitment to international cooperation.
On this occasion, the Faculty of Science, UBU and Graduate School of NanoBioScience, YCU signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), represented by Associate Professor Dr. Chutinun Prasitpuriprecha and Professor Dr. Masanori Tachikawa. The agreement aims to strengthen academic collaboration, promote student and researcher exchange, and advance joint research in Materials Science, Nanotechnology, Clean Energy, and Intelligent Sensing—research areas that contribute directly to advancing global sustainability and Net-Zero Energy goals.
Professor Dr. Siriporn Jungsuttiwong stated that this symposium provides a platform for researchers, academics, and students from Thailand, Japan, and partner countries to exchange scientific knowledge, emerging technologies, and innovative concepts related to clean energy and intelligent sensing. The program featured keynote lectures by international experts, poster presentations, panel discussions on clean energy and advanced sensing systems, and networking sessions to expand Thai–Japan collaborative research partnerships.
This event marks an important milestone in strengthening international academic collaboration between UBU and YCU, advancing research and innovation that contribute to improving quality of life and shaping a sustainable future for the global community.
