UBU Strengthens Regional Health Cooperation

Ubon Ratchathani University (UBU), through the College of Medicine and Public Health, co-hosted the 15th International Conference on Public Health among Greater Mekong Subregional Countries (GMS), held from October 24–25, 2025, in Kunming, People’s Republic of China. 

The UBU delegation was led by Professor Dr. Sanguansin Rattanalert, M.D., Dean of the College of Medicine and Public Health, together with Associate Professor Dr. Laksanee Boonkao, Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies, and Associate Professor Dr. Kitti Laosupab, Head of the Department of Public Health. 

In addition, the UBU Public Health Research Group, led by Assistant Professor Dr. Aree Budsorn, participated in the conference and presented their research work. This year’s conference was held under the theme “Building a Regional Health Community: Challenges and Innovations in Public Health,” bringing together members of the GMS Public Health Academic Network, which comprises 24 universities from six countries— Cambodia, China, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam. The network aims to advance equitable health development and strengthen cooperation among countries in the Mekong region. 

As an active member of the GMS network, UBU continues to play a vital role in promoting academic and policy collaboration in public health. The university remains committed to expanding strategic partnerships in health, education, and research to build a Sustainable Health Community both regionally and globally.
