UBU Empowers Youth through Agricultural Innovation and Technology

On September 12, 2025, Ubon Ratchathani University (UBU), through the Division of Academic Services, hosted a workshop entitled “Integrating Agricultural Knowledge and Technology to Foster and Promote Agricultural Careers” under the Educational Quality and Local Development Project: University as Mentor. The event was held at His Majesty's 7th Cycle Birthday Anniversary Commemorating Building, UBU, with support from the Office of the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation.

Assistant Professor Kesorn Sattratham, Assistant to the President for Academic Affairs delivered the welcome address. More than 360 teachers and high school students from 18 network schools participated in the event. 

The objective of the activity was to promote the integration of agricultural knowledge with modern technology, encourage innovation, inspire students toward careers in modern agriculture, and motivate them to pursue higher education. 

On this occasion, Assistant Professor Dr. Charuwan Thanawiroon, Vice President for Academic Affairs, together with Dr. Anusorn Bunteong, Assistant to the President for Educational Information, presented sets of books to all 18 participating schools to serve as additional learning resources.

The workshop covered two key topics:

1. Applications of AI and IoT for Modern Agriculture – presented by Dr. Preecha Khampakdee, Mr. Athit Ritplang, and their team from the Faculty of Engineering.

2. Hydroponic Cultivation and Agricultural Drone Technology – presented by Dr. Nimmanradee Promtong, Assistant Professor Dr. Supawadee Chaivivatrakul, and their team from the Faculty of Agriculture. 

This initiative represents yet another step in Ubon Ratchathani University’s ongoing efforts to align with the policies of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation. The project aims to connect and integrate agricultural knowledge with modern technology, while transferring this knowledge to schools and communities to sustainably enhance the potential of young people in agriculture.
