On July 24–25, 2025, Ubon Ratchathani University, through its Faculty of Political Science, in collaboration with the Thai Network of Philosophy and Social Science (TNPOSS), hosted the 3rd National Conference under the theme: “Revisiting Social Sciences: Philosophical Foundations, Applications, and Emerging Challenges” at the U-Place Hotel, Ubon Ratchathani University.
Dr. Siriporn Jantanasakulwong, Dean of the Faculty of Political Science, presided over the opening ceremony while Dr. Pasit Wongngamdee, Chair of the Conference Organizing Committee, delivered a report. The event featured a diverse range of academic activities, including keynote lectures, research and academic paper presentations, scholarly panel discussions, and network meetings of the Thai Network of Philosophy and Social Science. The conference attracted significant interest from both domestic and international scholars, students, and members of the public.
Dr. Jantanasakulwong noted that the Faculty of Political Science was honored to serve as the host of this national academic forum, which provided a valuable platform for the exchange of knowledge and perspectives in philosophy and the social sciences among scholars, researchers, and interested participants.
Dr. Jantanasakulwong also emphasized that, in today’s rapidly changing global and Thai societies—amid complex challenges across economic, social, political, technological, and environmental dimensions—there is a growing need to re-examine social phenomena through the lens of philosophy and social science. These disciplines offer tools for analyzing the root causes of current issues and for exploring pathways toward sustainable development.
Furthermore, the role of philosophy in social science is critical for critically questioning dominant paradigms and ideologies, and for proposing alternative perspectives that help deepen our understanding of complex social realities. The conference also served as a platform for dialogue among scholars, thinkers, and participants from various disciplines, fostering meaningful debate on issues that impact social development.
