Ubon Ratchathani University (UBU) has achieved a significant milestone by ranking 17th in Thailand and 207th globally in the UI Green Metric World University Ranking 2024. Organized by the University of Indonesia (UI), this ranking evaluates over 1,477 universities worldwide based on six key sustainability criteria. With a total score of 7,975 points, UBU has reaffirmed its commitment to becoming a green and environmentally friendly institution.
Since 2020, UBU has actively participated in the UI Green Metric Ranking as part of its strategic initiative to enhance its status as a sustainable university. The evaluation considers six critical areas: 1) Setting and Infrastructure, 2) Energy and Climate Change, 3) Waste Management, 4) Water Management, 5) Transportation, 6) Education and Research.
In 2024, UBU demonstrated remarkable progress, advancing to 17th place in Thailand (up from 20th in 2023) and 207th globally (up from 307th in 2023). This improvement reflects the university's sustained efforts in promoting sustainability and environmental stewardship. The top global rank was awarded to Wageningen University & Research in the Netherlands, which achieved an impressive total score of 9,575 points.
