On December 10, 2024, Associate Professor Dr. Chutinun Prasitpuriprecha, President of Ubon Ratchathani University (UBU), led a delegation comprising university executives and faculty representatives to visit the National University of Laos (NUOL) and other network organizations in Vientiane, Lao People's Democratic Republic (Lao PDR). The UBU delegation included Assistant Professor Dr. Oranuch Puangsuk, Assistant to the President for International Relations and Education; Dr. Siriporn Jantanasakulwong, Dean of the Faculty of Political Science; Dr. Thanachate Wisaijorn, Head of the Government Department, Faculty of Political Science; and Assistant Professor Dr. Natapol Thongplew, Chairman of the Environmental Science Program.
Morning Session: Strengthening Ties with NUOL
The UBU delegation visited NUOL, where they were warmly welcomed by Associate Professor Dr. Dexanourath Seneduangdeth, the President of NUOL, and members of NUOL’s executive board. The meeting focused on potential areas of academic collaboration, including:
1. Development of joint programs in Political Science and Science
2. Student and staff exchange programs
3. Joint research on issues related to the Mekong River Basin region
4. Organizing activities to foster relationships between students of both universities
5. UBU’s commitment to advancing international cooperation and enhancing education quality at the ASEAN level sustainably
Afternoon Session: Collaboration with Monsoon Wind Power Company Limited (MWP)
The UBU team met with Mr. Narut Buakajorn, General Manager of Monsoon Wind Power Company Limited (MWP), and his colleagues. Discussions focused on drafting a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on academic cooperation between UBU and MWP. The MoU aims to strengthen collaboration in academic development and support for higher education initiatives. The International Relations Office of UBU also reported on the progress of the Monsoon Wind Educational Scholarship project. The office highlighted the academic achievements of scholarship recipients, underscoring the project's success in enhancing educational opportunities.
This visit represents a pivotal step in strengthening the partnership between UBU and its Lao counterparts. The collaboration with NUOL and MWP is expected to promote education, enhance personnel development, and create long-term mutual benefits. UBU is committed to fostering strong international relationships and hopes that these partnerships will lead to impactful projects benefiting both Thailand and Lao PDR in the future.
