UBU Participated in ASEAN-India Network of Think Tanks (AINTT) Meeting in Singapore

On November 7-8, 2024, Assistant Professor Dr. Piyanat Soikham, Assistant to the President for Organizational Communication and Social Engagement, represented Ubon Ratchathani University (UBU) as Director of the India Studies Center at the 8th ASEAN-India Network of Think Tanks (AINTT) meeting, held at the Pan Pacific Hotel, Singapore. This meeting focused on exploring opportunities for ASEAN-India cooperation and policy development in areas such as regionalism, value chains, alternative energy, digital development, small and medium enterprises, financial technology, cross-border transactions, and international law. The event was hosted by RIS, New Delhi, and the ISEAS-Yus of Ishak Institute, Singapore, with support from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of both India and Singapore and the ASEAN Secretariat.

The meeting featured keynote addresses by esteemed figures, including H.E. Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, Secretary-General of ASEAN, H.E. Dr. Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Singapore, and H.E. Dr. S. Jaishankar, Minister of External Affairs of India. Additionally, a forum with participation from academics, diplomats, business leaders, and policymakers from ASEAN and India provided a platform for in-depth discussions.

On this occasion, notable attendees included H.E. Mrs. Ureerat Chareontoh, Ambassador of Thailand to Singapore, and H. E Mrs. Preeti Saran, Former Secretary (East), Ministry of External Affairs, India. 

This conference presented UBU with a valuable opportunity to exchange knowledge and policy perspectives at the international level with representatives from 12 ASEAN and South Asian countries. This matter underscored UBU's commitment to fostering cooperation between South Asia and Southeast Asia, reinforcing its role as a prominent university within ASEAN, and contributing to societal development and the quality of life in the region.
