On April 10, 2024, the Office of International Relations at Ubon Ratchathani University (UBU) hosted the Songkran Festival at the Office of the President with an opening ceremony led by Assistant Professor Dr. Oranuch Puangsuk, the Assistant to the President for International Relations and Education. The festival featured traditional Thai games, a Thai jasmine garland workshop, a lecture on the history of Songkran, and a water blessing ceremony. This event introduced UBU's international students and staff from Cambodia, Indonesia, the Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, and the USA to Thai culture and encouraged the sharing of cultural perspectives. This event also encouraged Thai students and staff participating in the event to develop their English skills while helping to preserve Thai culture. UBU President, Associate Professor Dr. Chutinun Prasitpuriprecha, and Assistant Professor Dr. Piyanat Soikham, the Assistant to the President for Organizational Communication and Social Engagement, also participated in the water blessing ceremony during the event.
