On March 10, 2024, a delegation of Ubon Ratchathani University executives, including President, Assistant Professor Dr. Chutinun Prasitpuriprecha, Vice President for Administration, Assistant Professor Dr. Griengsak Kaewkulchai, and Assistant to the President for Organizational Communication and Social Engagement, Assistant Professor Dr. Piyanat Soikham, along with UBU staff, attended a ceremony at Wat Maha Wanaram. The ceremony was held in honor of the relics of Lord Buddha and his two disciples, Arahant Sariputta and Arahant Maha Moggallana. It was presided over by the Minister of Culture, Mr. Sermsak Pongpanit. Esteemed guests, including Deputy Minister of Interior Mr. Kriang Kantinan and Ubon Ratchathani Province Governor Mr. Supasit Korcharoenyot, were also in attendance.

The ceremony began with a dignified ritual and procession, during which UBU actively participated in the "Indian National Cham" parade. The parade aimed to celebrate India's beauty and cultural diversity while paying homage to Lord Buddha along the route from the Great Ganga to the Mekong River. Over 80 individuals, including UBU personnel and members of other sectors, wearing traditional Indian attire joined the procession.

Ubon Ratchathani University has established a strong collaboration with the Embassy of India in Thailand and has also established the India Studies Center, which is the only institution for contemporary Indian studies in the Northeast region. This ongoing commitment underscores UBU's dedication to fostering cultural understanding and academic excellence in Indian studies.
