Science and Policy Interface: Turning Knowledge into Action

Ubon Ratchathani University organized an initiative called "Science and Policy Interface: Turning Knowledge into Action" on February 22-23, 2024. The event was held in Ubon Ratchathani Province and was a collaboration with Mae Fah Luang University and other institutions affiliated with the Mekong Academic Consortium 2024 network. The Embassy of the United States in Thailand provided support for this undertaking. The opening ceremony was presided over by Dr. Jacqueline Mourot, Cultural and Education Attaché at the Embassy of the United States in Thailand, and Professor Dr. Tuantong Jutagate, Vice President for Research and Innovations, provided a comprehensive report.

The program included various activities such as discussions and training sessions. The discussion, titled "Connecting Knowledge to Policy: Creating Impacts Across Borders," was held at the Office of the President, Ubon Ratchathani University, with a particular focus on the case of Phu Ngoy Dam. At the same time, a training session called "Young People Engagement in Environmental Action" took place in Khong Chiam district. The primary objective of this initiative was to teach media creation skills and transfer knowledge about the Mekong River for sustainable development. The participants of the training session were 20 youths from the general public.
