On Thursday, February 8, 2024, at 8.40 a.m., His Majesty King Vajiralongkorn, King Rama X, assigned Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn to confer diplomas to graduates of Ubon Ratchathani University (UBU) for the academic year 2022 (the 32nd assemblage) at the 7th Cycle of the King’s Birthday Convention Hall, UBU, Ubon Ratchathani.

On this occasion, Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn conferred honorary doctorates and awards on distinguished individuals and organizations across various fields. Notable recipients included 1) an honorary doctorate degree in Laws to Professor Taweekiat Meenakanit, 2) an honorary doctorate degree in Pharmacy to Emeritus Professor Sompon Prakongpan, 3) a Ratthanobon Award 2023 to Kasem Pangsri Foundation, CP All Public Company Limited, and Mrs. Wiyada Oonnanan. This year’s diploma recipients included 2,201 bachelor’s, 73 master’s, and 16 doctoral graduates, totaling 2,290 graduates.

Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn subsequently spoke the following to the graduates:

"In the current era, the significance of Lifelong Learning cannot be overstated, given the escalating influence of technology in our daily lives, which may assume roles traditionally performed by humans in various tasks. Failing to adapt and acquire knowledge in response to this evolution can impede our ability to thrive in both personal and professional endeavors, hindering the pursuit of success and prosperity. I would like to outline the principles for cultivating oneself as a perpetual learner. Firstly, maintain a readiness to learn at all times, recognizing that knowledge and skills can be honed through consistent study and practice. Secondly, seek the company of knowledgeable and competent individuals, as they can facilitate the exchange of information and positive attributes, fostering mutual diligence in learning and self-improvement. Thirdly, emphasize practical application, as this approach fosters genuine understanding rather than mere memorization, cultivating critical thinking and the application and expansion of knowledge. This, in turn, nurtures confidence and expertise, nurturing a desire for continuous learning. Fourthly, it is imperative to select learning methodologies that align with your individual needs, specifying the appropriate methods, timeframes, goals, learning steps, and subjects. This decision-making process should be attuned to your inherent potential, aptitude, interests, and the contextual environmental factors. Lastly, post-graduation, where external guidance may be lacking, the responsibility to inform and motivate oneself to pursue knowledge rests solely on the individual. Thus, I encourage all graduates to instill a steadfast commitment to ongoing learning, diligently practicing and developing themselves as outlined, ensuring sustained success and prosperity in both personal and professional spheres."

After the diploma conferral, Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn participated in a photo session with UBU executive boards, academia, and staff. Subsequently, she toured an exhibition and met with the seven grantees under the Royal Scholarships bestowed by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.

This year, Assistant Professor Dr. Chutinun Prasitpuriprecha, UBU President, UBU lecturers, researchers, students and representatives of community enterprises in Ubon Ratchathani Province offered 17 items to commemorate the occasion.
