Assistant Professor Dr. Piyanat Soikham, Assistant to the President for Organizational Communication and Social Engagement, represented Ubon Ratchathani University (UBU) at the Thai National Day celebration held at the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Savannakhet, Laos on December 1, 2023. The event was organized to celebrate the birthday of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great and was attended by distinguished guests from various Thai government sectors and private organizations, including the governors of Mukdahan, Amnat Charoen, and Nakhon Phanom Provinces.
The celebration was packed with a range of activities, including performances, speeches, and a formal dinner. Over the past 73 years (1950-2023), Thailand and Laos have maintained strong diplomatic relations, marked by close cooperation in various fields. Both countries are strategic partners, committed to sustainable growth and development, with collaborative mechanisms extending across government, private sector, and citizen engagement on both sides.
UBU and the Laos government sectors have collaborated on numerous projects and initiatives, such as the enhancement of fishing skills at the College of Agriculture and Forestry in Champasak Province, laboratory development, aquaculture training, and fishery product processing training in collaboration with the Royal Thai Embassy in Vientiane. Additionally, UBU Science Park has played a pivotal role in fostering entrepreneurial networks between the two nations.
