On October 28, 2023, the Office of International Relations at Ubon Ratchathani University brought together a cultural experience during the celebration of The End of Buddhist Lent Day 2023 at the Nonglak Temple in Muang Sam Sip District, Ubon Ratchathani Province. This event was organized as part of the "Promoting Cultural Knowledge Exchange in Fiscal Year 2024" initiative, aimed at fostering an understanding of Isan local culture and the significance of the end of Buddhist Lent Day among UBU Thai and International students, who had the opportunity to engage with community experts and local residents.
Mr. Preeda Oon-Udom, the Sheriff of Muang Sam Sip District, presided over the opening ceremonies, along with Assistant Professor Dr. Oranuch Puangsuk, the Assistant to the President for International Relations and Education, who provided a report.
UBU international students from Bhutan, Cambodia, Laos, and Myanmar actively participated in traditional local sports and engaged in the creation of Kratong, the beautiful floating lanterns, alongside primary school students and community members. This event served as a valuable platform for UBU Thai and international students to immerse themselves in the local culture through a range of engaging activities. Furthermore, these activities played a pivotal role in inspiring the younger generation to preserve and carry forward these rich local cultural traditions.
