On August 3, 2023, fourth-year nursing student Ms. Supanun Boonsang, was awarded the title “Outstanding Nursing Student 2023” at the Annual General and Academic Meeting 2023 with the theme, “Smart Nurse: a Nurse’s Role in Digital Age” at the Sima Thani Hotel in Nakhon Ratchasima Province. On this occasion, Assistant Professor Dr. Saowamas Khunlan Tueannadee, Chairperson of the Northeastern branch of the Nurses’ Association of Thailand, presided over the ceremony, with administrators and lecturers from the Faculty of Nursing at Ubon Ratchathani University also congratulating her on this prestigious award.    

 

She is a former Chairperson of the Nursing Student Club and has high grades with a GPAX of 3.86. Among her outstanding projects was a project entitled “Little ironweed tea helps to quit smoking”. This herb is found in the local area and processed into tea which can reduce the craving for tobacco. She also participated in volunteer activities at the university and external organizations such as the UBU Student Volunteers for Flood Rehabilitation Project. This project was held under the cooperation between the student organization and the Mirror Foundation. Ms. Boonsang serves as another fine example for UBU students of diligent study and participation in volunteer activities.
