UBU congratulates Mr. Apiwat Namkote, a fourth-year student in the Electrical and Electronics Program at the Faculty of Engineering. He won third place in the IEEE PES 5-Minute Student Project Pitch Competition (5MSPP 2022), working with his advisor Dr. Pracha Khampakdee. This competition was held by the Triple E Electricity and Energy Association (Thailand) a.k.a. IEEE PES (Thailand) on April 22, 2022, at the Metropolitan Electric Authority. 

 

Mr. Apiwat Namkote presented a project entitled “The Design and Implementation of Inverters for Motor Drives in Air Conditioning Systems”. This project sought to solve a problem with the heat temperature of 22 kW, 35 amp inverter drivers. The solution was achieved by changing the power electronics from DIPIPMs to IGBT modules and this dissipation system reduced temperatures by approximately 1-2 C° to help reduce electricity bills and global warming. He noted his pride in receiving this award and that he had continuously applied the knowledge for his project until he received this prestigious award from the competition. This is another source of UBU pride in providing a learning platform that produces proficient graduates to meet current labor market demands.
