Fourth-year students from the Department of Mechanical Engineering presented their final project, an innovative electric wheelchair cart that was designed through the SolidWorks program. It was produced to meet the needs of paraplegics or the elderly and the production cost did not exceed 14,000 baht. The team consisted of Mr. Cherdkead Chaipanto, Mr. Thanapon Katethong, and Ms. Lawan Janda. It has a hub motor mechanism to redirect the drive without using the main source of power. Forward and reverse movements are controlled by a control box which users can adjust the speed, with a maximum speed of 40 km./hour. The battery power capacity was 48V/15A and it can be driven for a distance of 32.8 km. This tool was found to be effective, convenient, easy to use, and environmentally friendly, and serves as another UBU pride in having students create useful innovations for disabled and elderly people.
