On 27-28 August 2021, the English Teaching Program at the Faculty of Liberal Arts, Ubon Ratchathani University, hosted the International Conference on English Language Studies 2021 (ICELS 2021). Assistant Professor Dr. Chutinun Prasitpuriprecha, the President of Ubon Ratchathani University, presided over the opening ceremony and was introduced by Assistant Professor Dr. Surasak Khamkhong, Dean of the Faculty of Liberal Arts. Dr.Tikamporn Wuttipornpong, a Lecturer at the Faculty of Liberal Arts, headed the project. The conference was organized under the theme “English language Studies in the Era of Borderless Education: Challenges and Opportunities”. This theme was selected due to the fact that modern education increasingly operates through powerful communication technology allowing for anyone to learn from anywhere in the world. Learners may face a variety of challenges along with opportunities that arise as well.

There were famous keynote speakers in various fields of English language studies such as Professor Dr. Paul Kei Matsuda from Arizona State University, Associate Professor Dr. Matthew Vetter from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Dr. NGUYEN Thi Thuy Loan, noted reviewer and editor, and Associate Professor Dr. Wajuppa Tossa, a retired associate professor from the Western Languages at Mahasarakham University, a full-time storyteller who trained under Dr. Margaret Read MacDonald. All sessions were held via online.
