The Faculty of Political Science hosts “Yoga at the Mekong” to mark the International Day of Yoga

On 20 June 2021, the Embassy of India in cooperation with the Faculty of Political Science at  UBU, organized “Yoga at the Mekong” to celebrate the International Day of Yoga. The event was held in Room Pol 301, at the Faculty of Political Science, UBU.
 
Dr. Titipol Phakdeewanich, Dean of the Faculty of Political Science, gave a welcome speech and spoke about the importance of health care. H.E. Mrs. Suchitra Durai, Ambassador of India to Thailand, opened the ceremony and invited the participants to join the Yoga activity to celebrate the International Day of Yoga organized in Bangkok, Ubon Ratchathani, Chiang Mai, Hat Yai, Rayong, and Phuket.  
 
Fifty UBU students and staff participated in the activity for 2 hours at the university. “Yoga at the Mekong” emphasizes cooperation between Thailand and India through “Yoga Diplomacy”. This activity was an opportunity to present health care culture in terms of physical and mental integration. Additionally, this activity sought to support learning about contemporary Indian culture and cooperation with the external sector in the Mekong region and internationally.
 
Currently, the UBU Yoga class is run by Dr. Siripon Jantanasakunwong, Vice-Chairperson of the Indian Study Center, and supported by the Faculty of Political Science and its partner network.
