UBU Lecturer Won ASEAN-India Youth Award 2019 from the 2nd ASEAN-India Youth Summit

UBU is pleased to congratulate Dr. Piyanat Soikham, a lecturer from the Faculty of Political Science at UBU, for being selected to receive the ASEAN-India Youth Award 2019 from the 2nd ASEAN-India Youth Summit which was held in Guwahati, India from 03-07 February 2019 and was organized by India Foundation, Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India (MEA) and Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). The theme of this year was “Connectivity: Pathway to Shared Prosperity.”  The participants of the event were young leaders in India and from the ten ASEAN countries including Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. They were provided opportunities to share and brainstorm ideas on restoration and nourishment of connectivity in the region.

Dr. Piyanat Soikham received a Master’s Degree from Osmania University-India, under the Indian Government Scholarship. Then, he completed his Doctoral Degree from University of St. Andrew in Scotland with his thesis entitled Indian Soft Power towards Southeast Asia which wonthe Anglo-Thai Society’s Annual Award for Academic Excellence 2017 in the Humanities and Social Science category.
