UBU Communication Arts Students Won 1st Runner-up from BAB Short Film Contest 2019

Bangkok Art Biennale (BAB) is a non-profit foundation that was established in 2017. Its mission is to engage and inspire diverse Thai, ASEAN and international audiences by actively fostering recognition and appreciation of contemporary art exhibitions.

The Short Film Contest 2019 was organized to engage young film- makers to create short films related to the theme “Beyond Bliss.” University students in any field of study were eligible to send their short film into the contest. The announcement of awards was held at Bangkok Art and Culture Centre on 8 March 2019.

Extraordinarily, out of 85 teams who participated in the contest, the UBU team called HD Production Team won 1st runner-up and received a 25,000 baht prize along with certificates. Their award-winning short film was titled “Stranger” which presented a story of a country boy who once went to Bangkok. While there, he faced much chaos and crowded moments. He found out that a life in town was much different from his hometown. He eventually got mad and ran away from the city. While running, he accidentally falls down into an air raid shelter that led him into a different world. The team members were Ms. Wipada Moolchaisuk, Mr. Thanakit Preechalertsiri, Mr. Apinun Sangpang, Mr. Jakrarat Sunintabun and Ms. Wilasinee Pihuenand their supervisor was Mr. Kritskorn Sayakit, lecturer at Department of Communication Arts, Faculty of Liberal Arts at UBU.
