On 31 March 2019, the Faculty of Nursing at UBU organized a community service project titled the 7th  Luk Huk Luk Pang which aimed to promote people’s health. The event was held at Wat Bansrikhai, Warin Chamrap, Ubon Ratchathani where village leaders, Village Health Volunteers, community members, UBU Nursing staff and students, and staff from Muangsrikhai Health Promotion Hospital participated in the event. The project was initiated in 2012 as it is one of the university’s missions to serve communities in various ways. People’s health is one of the university’s concerns. Therefore, the Faculty of Nursing is continually organizing projects that will help people in nearby communities so they will be able to take care of their own health. At the same time, Nursing students also had a chance to practice their skills, get involved with the local community, and work together as a team in an authentic workplace. At the event, several practical health innovations were presented and demonstrated such as the smart working stick, a multi-purpose chair, an exercise pad that reduces blood sugar and promotes lung health, a miracle exercise bar for elderly people, a knee protection bicycle, shoes for diabetes, a 2 in 1 pain reliever bed and more.

This project is one out of several projects that aims to develop and strengthen the potential of local communities. UBU will continue to engage in more community service projects that will help sustain the development of the Thai society and increase students’ awareness and involvement in nearby communities.
