Assistant Professor Dr. Kanya Jungvimutipan, the Dean of Faculty of Applied arts and Architecture, led 15 UBU students to participate in voluntary events held in Don Moddang and Warin Chamrap District on 24 April 2019 and 26 April 2019, respectively.

The events were carried out by Mr. Sarit Witoon, the Governor of Ubon Ratchathani. At the events, water storage weirs were constructed through the cooperation of government sectors, private sectors, community members, and volunteers. The weirs will be used to promote and sustain the community’s quality of life by having the ability to store water for the dry season. Ubon Ratchathani will expand this project to increase the number of water storage weirs throughout the province. Therefore, all districts in Ubon Ratchathani will be encouraged to build their own weirs. In addition to the sufficient water people will gain, this project plays an important role in the promotion of collaborative management amongst people in the community, sustainable cooperation between government and private sectors, and environmental preservation awareness.

Moreover, these voluntary events were aimed to celebrate the King’s coronation officially held on 4 May 2019, which was a special time for all Thais.

UBU is always pleased to be involved in voluntary events to promote the quality of life of people in various communities, especially local ones.
