On 12-13 June 2019, the Faculty of Engineering organized a seminar at the Faculty of Engineering for 120 faculty staff including executive board members, lecturers, and academic supporting staff.

The aims of the seminar were to set up the faculty’s policies, to propose operative goals, and to prepare themselves to encounter the global changes occurring within the economy, society, and technology. The seminar was officially opened by Assistant Professor Dr. Mongkol Pusayatanont, Dean of Faculty of Engineering.

In the seminar, a special topic titled Driving of Provincial and Regional Economy, and Ubon Ratchathani Industry Estate’s Goals and Directions was delivered to the participants. The topic was moderated by Associate Professor Dr. Chawalit Thinvongpituk, Vice President for Research, Innovations, and Academic Service. Besides the special seminar, a small group discussion was also organized to allow the participants to brainstorm collaboratively and specify the missions and core values of the organization. Moreover, its strategic plan for 2017-2021 was further reviewed.

Assistant Professor Dr. Mongkol Pusayatanont expressed that the faculty realizes the importance of the global changes occurring within the economy, society, and technology. Therefore, the faculty organized the seminar to brainstorm ideas on the special topics related to the preparation of the changes. The faculty’s curriculum, pedagogical management, and human resources development was reviewed while feedback from stakeholders who were the graduates’ employers was also taken into consideration. Learning from organizations that exemplify the best practices is key to the development of the faculty as the potential of the staff can help promote the faculty’s competitive capacity. Therefore, human resources development is another key factor that will help drive the faculty toward more success. With obtaining high quality staff in all levels, the faculty can effectively compete amongst other higher educational institutions within this region and maintain its caliber within the competitive society.

The seminar reflected UBU’s stance on recognizing the importance of global changes and willingness to make the appropriate adaptations.

UBU is always concerned about the changes of the world and wants to continuously improve and adapt itself as it is a higher educational institution aiming to serve communities and improve the quality of life for all.
