Chiang Mai University and the Council of University Administrative Staff of Thailand co-organized the11th University Administrative Staff of Thailand National Conference titled Thongkhaw Vichakan 2019: Research Promotion, Work Performance Development, and Organization Development, from 20-21 June 2019 at Chiang Mai University. There were more than 300 university administrative staff from universities in Thailand who participated in the conference.

The conference aimed to develop university administrative staff’s potentials, raise their awareness on the importance of institutional research (which is a key tool to the development of organizations), and provide an opportunity to the staff to exchange knowledge and share ideas. Furthermore, it aimed to build an institutional research network among university administrative staff in Thailand.

The conference allowed university staff to send their research/papers to compete in the event. There were more than 120 papers that were submitted to the competition. The presentation of the research were divided into two categories: Oral Presentation and Poster Presentation. The research fields were divided into three categories: Humanities and Social Sciences, Science and Technology, and Health Science.

On this occasion, UBU is pleased to congratulate Mr. Pornnares Moonmuangsaen, Head of Student Registrar and Evaluation Division, for receiving the 2nd runner-up prize from the conference in the Oral Presentation category of Humanities and Social Sciences. His paper was titled Students’ Learning Achievement of Foundation English 1 in 2017 academic year: the comparison between students with and without English Reinforcement Course 2. The study indicated that the students who took the English Reinforcement Course 2 gained a higher learning achievement from Foundation English 1 than those who did not take the course.

Mr. Moonmuangsaen’s paper is one out of the many institutional research studies conducted by UBU’s administrative staff that helps the university develop the quality of our curriculum and improve our learning and teaching management.  UBU thanks Mr. Moonmuangsaen for being a hard worker and devoting his time for the improvement of the university.
