UBU Research and Innovations Expo 2019 : RISE 2019

On 2-3 July 2019, Ubon Ratchathani University Science Park and other government organizations under the Ministry of Higher Education Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI) partnered with Central Plaza Ubon Ratchathani co-organized the 4th UBU Research and Innovations Expo 2019: RISE 2019 at Central Plaza Ubon Ratchathani. Mr. Sarit Witoon, the governor of Ubon Ratchathani, delivered a speech to kindly welcome Associate Professor Soranit Siltharm, the Permanent Secretary of MHESI, distinguished guests, and participants. Associate Professor Soranit Siltharm then declared the opening of the event. Afterward, Assistant Professor Dr. Chutinun Prasitpuriprecha, the President of UBU, reported the rationales and objectives of the event.  The expo aimed to create a space for showcasing UBU’s innovative projects and research as well as promoting startups for commercial purposes. Furthermore, the event initiated and promoted research cooperation between the university and local private sectors to develop further cooperation. In addition, the event could promote the utilization of the research. The event could help UBU become more well-known amongst wider communities.

Associate Professor Dr. Chawalit Thinvongpituk, Vice President for Research, Innovations, and Academic Services, stated that the UBU Research and Innovations Expo 2019: RISE 2019 is an event that occurs annually. It’s typically known as UBU RISE. The event allowed SMEs and other entrepreneurs to learn about new innovations that might help expand their businesses. Moreover, UBU startups had a chance to present their businesses and latest products. The research areas highlighted during the event were engineering, food, drugs, agriculture, and computer and information technology.  Besides the innovative projects and products, several local leading enterprises also had the opportunity to show and sell their products. Alongside the local businesses, new startups were also provided a space to showcase their products. Nonetheless, the participants of the event had a chance to acquire new knowledge, browse through the various innovations, and pleasurably enjoy the shopping of products they were interested in. Other captivating activities organized at the event were a special talk show titled the Limitless Entrepreneurs which was delivered by Pattarapon Silapajan, a core successful businessman in SMEs, a food work shop by Mr. Boonthum Parkpho, a well-known iron chef in Thailand, a debate titled Unlock Research Projects: research2biz, and other entertainment activities on the stage.

The event was eminently successful through the strong cooperation among governmental, private, and educational sectors. UBU will continuously organize more events to promote the capacity and potentials of SMEs and local entrepreneurs and will also conduct more research and create more innovations that will help promote people’s life quality for prosperity and sustainability.
