UBU Management Science Student Won First Place at the Young Financial Star Competition 2019 (YFS 2019)

UBU proudly reported that Mr. Theerawat Dangchat,4th year Finance and Banking student at the Faculty of Management Science, was one of the first place winners at the Young Financial Star Competition 2019 (YFS 2019). He, along with his team, placed first in the category of PTT Star Team. This year, there was a total of 5,704 students from 84 universities in Thailand who attended the competition. The event provided opportunities for university students to sharpen their knowledge of finance and banking which will lead them in becoming quality personnel in the capital markets of Thailand. The competition was co-organized by the Stock Exchange of Thailand and its partners. It was held in different rounds from June 2019 to August 2019. Ultimately, the final round was held on 4 August 2019 at the Stock Exchange of Thailand.

During the 2nd round, 308 students out of 5,704 competitors were selected to continue in the competition. Within this number, there were 7 UBU students who qualified to compete in the next round. The students were Mr. Worawoot Boonsiri, Mr. Nattapong Siriboon, Ms. Thanchnok Kamparsret, Mr. Theerawat Dangchat, Ms. Vichulada Matree, Ms. Onrumpa Thiwpaingam, and Ms. Onanong Buathong.  As a result, Mr. Theerawat Dangchat won first place from the PTT Star Team category and Ms. Thanchnok Kamparsret qualified to being one of the last 15 competitors in the Insurance category.

Mr. Theerawat Dangchat stated that he was so grateful he could help expand the reputation of the university while also learning so much from the competition. He gained an invaluable amount of knowledge and real-life experiences that can further be applied in his life and career.He also enhanced his critical thinking skills and gained in-depth knowledge about finance and banking. Furthermore, he learned about the Certified Financial Planning Program (CFP), risk management, investment plans, retirement plans, and presentation skills.

Consequently, to place and achieve this accomplishment within the competition, he applied and integrated the knowledge he gained and learned from the Faculty of Management Science, UBU. He utilized this knowledge, as well as his teamwork skills to effectively work with other students from different universities. By working with these students, he created a strong network among various Thai university students and a hard-working team.His team was named Bio No.1 Project and consisted of students from Chiang Mai University,Kasetsart University,Thammasat University, Chulalongkorn University, and Ubon Ratchathani University. They received a scholarship of 30,000 baht as their reward, a budget for studying and observing finance abroad, registration fees for completing the tests of the Certified Investment and Securities Analyst Program (CISA) and the Certified Financial Planner Program (CFP), honor shields, and other certificates.  Mr. Theerawat Dangchat thanks his family for always supporting him, his teachers for providing an inestimable amount of knowledge, and all of his friends at the faculty for cheering him on along the way.

For this year, the competitive categories of the YFS 2019 were: SET Investment Star, SET Corporate Finance Star, Muang Thai Life Assurance Star, KBank Financial Planning Star, and PTT Star Team. The winners of each category were:

SET Investment Star: Chulalongkorn University

SET Corporate Finance Star: Thammasat University

Muang Thai Life Assurance Star: Chiang Mai University

KBank Financial Planning Star: Kasetsart University

PTT Star Team: Bio No.1 Team (Chiang Mai University, Kasetsart University, Thammasat University, Chulalongkorn University and Ubon Ratchathani University)

UBU graciously thanks Mr. Theerawat Dangchat for helping expand the reputation of UBU. UBU also thanks and is honorably proud of the other six participating students for representing the university and their dedication, hard-work, and drive.

Moreover, in addition to their competitive efforts,two of the seven participants Mr. Theerawat Dangchat and Ms. Thanchnok Kamparsret are also academically outstanding students at UBU as their GPAs are at a high 3.78 and 3.71, respectively. Their hard work and success helps serve as an inspiration to prospective high school students’ motivation and confidence to study at UBU.
