On 9 -11 September 2019, Ubon Ratchathani University’s Science Park and the Industrial Promotion Center Region 7 co-organized the Product Innovations Market Testing Expo 2019: PI-MTE2019 at Central Plaza, Ubon Ratchathani. The event was officially presided over by Mr. Roongrote Itharat, Director of the Industrial Promotion Center Region 7. t the event, Assistant Professor Dr. Chutinun Prasitpuriprecha, President of UBU, presented technology licenses to the entrepreneurs allowing them to legitimately use the UBU researchers’ technology and innovations to manufacture their products. Furthermore, Associate Proefssor Dr. Chawalit Thinvongpituk, Vice President for Research, Innovations, and Academic Services, reported the rationales and objectives of the event which were to develop and create new commercial products that integrated research. The event additionally helped SMEs add more value to their products, strengthen their businesses, and obtain the capacity to expand their businesses through a new marketing channel. After the official opening ceremony, the distinguished guests visited exhibitions showcasing multiple products and innovations. Outstandingly, 33 individual entrepreneurs presented their latest products. Furthermore,the participants of the event had a chance to acquire new knowledge to help them become successful in their businesses through two special talks. The keynote speakers of the talks given were Mr. Kanokporn Visessiri, Managing Director of Triple C Smart Solutions Co., Ltd and Mr. Wongthanong Chainarongsingha, CEO of the Standard.
Associate Professor Dr. Chawalit Thinvongpituk stated that the government strongly emphasizes the uses of technology and innovation to drive the Thai economy. With this, UBU Science Park recognizes the opportunity that is present for entrepreneurs to grow through the integration of research and technology. Therefore, the Product Innovations Market Testing Expo 2019: PI-MTE2019 was organized to promote the use of research to expand businesses and promote commercial manufacturing. In doing so, the event also promoted the R2M concept (Research to Markets) where research is integrated for commercial purposes. Equally important, the event continued to promote UBU’s mission in providing educational service activities.
So far, UBU’s Science Park has organized several events to enhance the potentials of SMEs and entrepreneurs through the use of technology and innovations. In order to sustain the long-term strength and success of the SMEs and entrepreneurs, UBU’s Science Park is committed to organizing more events focused on the application and integration of research into innovations which will essentially lead to more sustainable development for the entire country.
