College of Medicine and Public Health Organized Prince Mahidol Day 2019

On 24 September 2019, the College of Medicine and Public Health organized an honorable event to commemorateHis Royal Highness Prince Mahidol of Songkla on Mahidol Day. The commemorative ceremony was held in front of the Prince Mahidol and Princess Srinagarindra Statue located at the College of Medicine and Public Health at UBU. Assistant Professor Dr. Adun Janyalertadun, Vice President of Administration, presided over the ceremony.  Dr. Nirun Phitakwatchara, MD, Dean of College of Medicine and Public Health together with Dr. Saksit Sripa, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, and Assistant Professor Dr. Sanguan Thanee, Dean of Faculty of Nursing, led faculty, staff members and students to attend the ceremony. Moreover, the event welcomed local public and private health organizations to participate in the ceremony. Assistant Professor Dr. Adun Janyalertadun began the ceremony with the opening of coneflowers, stating the royal honor statements, and then laying wreaths to pay homage. At the ceremony, all students joined in saluting the Prince Mahidol and Princess Srinagarindra Statue together.

Dr. Nirun Phitakwatchara stated that UBU organizes Mahidol Day on 24th September annually. It is to express gratitude and respect to His Royal Highness Prince Mahidol of Songkla (the father of Thai medical and public health sciences) who devoted a large capacity of his life to the development of medical education in Thailand. He strengthened the quality of medical schools in Thailand through the development of an effective curriculum, teaching techniques, and learning methods. His Royal Highness Prince Mahidol of Songkla heavily contributed to the development of Thailand’s medical and health standards to reach international standards.
