The Faculty of Science at UBU organized a workshop titled “The Design ofE-Portfoliofor TCASby Using a Smartphone”on 25 October 2019 at Narinukun School, Ubon Ratchathani Province. There was a total of 620 grade-12 students. The workshop was officially opened by Ms. Nithiwadee Woradet, Deputy Director of Narinukun School. Afterward, Ms. Jongrak Pongchote, Head of the Student Counselling Office, delivered the rationales and objectives of the workshop. The workshop aimed to enable students to create their own E-Portfolio by using an application on their smartphones, and to promote computer and information technology skills which serve the Thailand 4.0 model. Tips and techniques on how to create an effective e-portfolio were delivered by Dr. Sompong Valuvanathorn, Deputy Head of the Department of Mathematics, Statistics and Computer, and Mr. Thawatchai Salangsing, lecturer at the Faculty of Science.
Dr. Sompong Valuvanathorn said that the workshop can help support high school students who are preparing for university admissions though the TCAS system. The E-portfolio serves as a practical tool to help students manage their documents online effectively in a systemized manner. Moreover, the students can organize their e-portfolio easily by downloading and installing supportive applications such as Cam Scanner, Clear Scanner, Simple Scan and Office Lens. All steps can be easily completed through a smartphone.
The Faculty of Science recognizes the importance of technology and how it can improve the quality of people’s lives. Therefore, the faculty will continue to organize more workshops aimed to enhance peoples’ technology skills to live more comfortable lives within the 21st century.
