From 31 October 2019 to 6 November 2019, 50 members from the Law Student Volunteer Club, the Faculty of Law at UBU, organized a 7-day voluntary camp at Ban Sawang School, in Sawang Wirawong District, Ubon Ratchathani. Their activities aimed to repair flood damages by cleaning up the school, renovating the playground and building new restrooms. The camp was financially sponsored by UBU and One 31 Channel with approximately 400,000 baht.

Ban Sawang School is one of the many schools that was affected by the flood last September. Sadly, their physical infrastructures were severely damaged causing many difficulties for teachers and students to carry out daily activities. Due to this, many volunteers have organized activities to help reconstruct the school to a more stable condition. Among them was the voluntary camp organized by UBU Law students. In addition to the students’ primary goal of helping the school and its community members, students gained a higher sense of social responsibility through participating in the voluntary activities.

Ubon Ratchathani University is aware of the wide-spread damages caused by the flood and is working diligently towards developing more activities that will help all those affected. The university is happily committed to helping improve the quality of life for our neighboring communities.
