On 17 July 2019, Assistant Professor Dr. Chutinun Prasitpuriprecha, President of UBU, led UBU staff and students to participate in the 118th Ubon Ratchathani Candle Festival at Thung Sri Mueang Park. The ceremony was officially opened by Mr. Sarit Witoon, the Governor of Ubon Ratchathani at 08.30 am. Afterward, the parade including folk dance performances and the candlewax procession began. The carved candlewax features were delivered by trailer tractors along the roads around Thung Sri Mueang Park.  This year’s festival theme was devoted to demonstrations of the highest level of worship, praise, and adoration of the King from all of the citizens in Ubon Ratchathani Province.  This year, UBU organized one of the biggest parades ever to entertain thousands of tourists at the event. There were more than 300 UBU staff and students and students from Sawangwerawong School who performed in the parade. The parade consisted of several performances such as worshipping the King, the Ubon Ratchathani Ancient Candle Procession, a Folk Dance Performance by UBU and Sawangwerawong School, an Isan Local Flags Procession, and Candle Robots.

The parade demonstrations put together through the cooperation of UBU staff and students and its partner school- Sawangwerawong School were performed beautifully and successfully. UBU thanks all participants for their cooperation. UBU will continue to organize more events and get involved in more cultural preservation activities in order to maintain and sustain local wisdom and culture.
