On 15-16 February 2020, the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences at UBU hosted the 12th Annual Conference of North Eastern Pharmacy Research 2020: Transformation of Pharmacy Profession in the Digital Eraat the Central Learning Building 5 (CLB5), UBU. Participants of the event were students, lecturers and researchers from Ubon Ratchathani University (UBU), Mahasarakham University (MSU) and Khon Kaen University (KKU) along with general public who are interested in pharmacy education.The conference was officially opened by Assistant Professor Dr. Chutinun Prasitpuriprecha, President of UBU, on 15 February 2020. Afterward, Dr. Saksit Sripa, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, UBU, reported the objectives of the event.The conference was organized to serve the faculty’s mission of research innovation. It also aimed to create a space forundergraduate students, graduate students, alumni, researchers and the general public to exchange knowledge and research ideas as well as showcase their research projects.By doing this, local educational institutions can strengthen their research network, enhance the quality of their research for the pharmaceutical field and support student researchers.The activities during the conference consisted of a special talk, seminars, research presentations (oral and poster presentation), a ceremony to honor outstanding pharmacists in 2020and an award presentation ceremony to recognize outstanding students of the 2019 academic year.
The special talk titled The Application of AI to Pharmacy and the Impacts on the Role of Pharmacy Professionwas delivered by Dr. Chaiwat Kaniwaranun, Pharmacy Automation Director at Gateway Healthcare Ltd and Mr. Wirun Wetsiri, Phamacist and Deputy Manager of Pharmaceutical Division at Arincare Company.
The seminars titled The Readiness of Pharmacy Profession in the Digital Era and The Road to Successful Pharmacists were delivered by Associate Professor Dr. Jiraporn Limpananon, Chair of the Pharmacy Council of Thailand, Dr. Saksit Sripa, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, UBU, Assistant Professor Dr. Chanuttha Ploylearmsang, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, MSU and Associate Professor Dr. Paiboon Daosodsai, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, KKU. The seminars were facilitated by Mr. Kongkiat Samangsri, Ms. Prissana Tangsin and Mr. Phubed Nilatawong, lecturers at the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, UBU and Ms. Sireethorn Leearamwat, pharmacist.
This conference demonstrates the strong academic collaboration among three partnered institutions. Through this partnership, pharmacy students and pharmacists are able to sharpen their professional skills and learn about the latest significant scientific development in Pharmacy.
UBU expresses their deepest thanks to the distinguished speakers and delegations for providing and sharing valuable knowledge to the participants. UBU also highly appreciates the attendance of all participants and proudly thanks the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences of UBU for organizing this event.
