On 14 April 2020, Assistant Professor Dr. Charida Pukahuta, Dean of Faculty of Science together with the faculty administrative members and staff warmly welcomed Acting Sub Lt. Boonlert Thongsa-ard, Director of Ban Sriwanalai Centerfor Empowerment and Vocational Development for Persons with Disabilities, Ubon Ratchathani Province and his colleagues on their visit to the Faculty of Sciences at UBU. The purpose of the visit was to receive a donation of sanitizer gels produced by the university. As part of an ongoing cooperation, the center prepared the necessary materials needed for the gels such as carbomer, ethyl alcohol and bottles while UBU produced the gels.
Associate Professor Dr. Pornpan Pungpo, Head of the Chemistry Department, shared that multiple lecturers, scientists and staff from the Chemistry department helped in producing the sanitizer gels which contained 75% of alcohol concentration each. The gel underwent accurate processing measures and then filled into 450ML pump head bottles. The gel produced can be used to clean hands to prevent germs and reduce the risk of digestive disorders as well as respiratory tract infections. It is also good for protection against the COVID-19 virus. To apply the gel, you should squeeze 2-3 drops of the gel onto the palm, then rub it all over the palms without rinsing. The product should not be consumed and be kept away from the eyes. Moreover, it should be kept away from fires and high temperatures.
On this special occasion, Acting Sub Lt. Boonlert Thongsa-ard expressed his sincere thanks to the Faculty of Sciences at UBU for producing and donating the sanitizer gels to the center. The center will distribute the gel to people with disabilities, public individuals who need it and heads of communities in rural areas.
