UBU promotes agriculture

UBU and Ubon Ratchathani Provincial Agriculture and Cooperatives Office hosted a workshop to review the 2018-2020 development plan of Ubon Ratchathani’s agriculture and cooperatives and develop an action plan for the 2020 fiscal year for the Agritech and Innovation Center:  AIC, Ubon Ratchathani  Province. Assistant Professor Dr. Chutinun Prasitpuriprecha, President presided over the event which was held at the Srimueangmai Meeting Room, in the Office of the President, UBU, on 25 June, 2020.  At the beginning of the workshop,Mr. Komsan Jumroonpong, an inspector from the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, introduced guidelines for Ubon Ratchathani’s agriculture and cooperatives’ development plan and the AIC Center’s action plan. Afterward, a seminar on the review of the 2018-2022 development plan and project proposal preparation was organized by the Ubon Ratchathani Provincial Agriculture and Cooperatives Office. This was followed by an introduction of the AIC’s action plan delivered by Associate Professor Dr. Chawalit Thinvongpituk, Vice President for Research, Innovations, and Academic Services at UBU. There was also a workshop on a proposal to develop the AIC’s action plan. At the workshop, participants were divided into four working groups: Big data and Gov Tech, E-commerce, Smart Farming and Agribusiness.

Agritech and Innovation Center: AIC has been established to serve agricultural technology and innovation to farmers as well as to enable them to apply the manifold knowledge gained from the center to increase their productivity and reduce production costs. Dr. Narintorn Boonbrahm, Dean of Faculty of Agriculture at UBU, served as the director for the Ubon Ratchathani AIC Center.

All in all, UBU expresses deepest thanks to Ubon Ratchathani Provincial Agriculture and Cooperatives Office and all participants for providing and sharing valuable knowledge that will help improve the quality of agriculture. UBU looks forward to organizing more events that will help improve the quality of life for our people.
