On 3 July, 2020, the College of Medicine and Public Health at UBU and the Health Promotion Center-10hosted an event to celebrate Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn Krom Phra Srisavangavadhana’s birthday anniversary and Thai Environmental Health Day which took place on the 4th of July. The event was held at the UBU central canteen. There were many people participating in the event. Assistant Professor Dr. Chutinun Prasitpuriprecha, President of UBU, led participants to salute the royal portrait of Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn Krom Phra Srisavangavadhana. Afterwards, she opened cone flowers, saluted, and gave a blessing speech, respectively. Mr. Pakorn Toongkasereerak, MD, Director of the Health Promotion Center-10 presided over the event while Ms. Chailai Changdum, Vice Director reported the objectives of the event.
Assistant Professor Dr. Chutinun Prasitpuriprecha stated that Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn Krom Phra Srisavangavadhana has granted permission to mark her birthday as "Thai Environmental Health Day." Therefore, in order to honor and appreciate Her Royal Highness’ benevolence and contribution to Thai environmental health and her promotion of the development of environmental health especially in the Covid-19 situation, UBU and the Health Promotion Center-10 co-organized this event to campaign for Thai environmental health day. The aims of the event are to encourage all sectors to realize the importance of environmental health management in cafeterias where large numbers of people congregate. Unhygienic management may cause the accumulation and spread of pathogens. Essentially, food sellers, shop owners and service users should help maintain safety, cleanliness and hygienic conditions within the cafeterias as well as maintain individual health behavior according to the UBU “new normal” principle.
Thai Environmental Health Day at UBU consisted of a certificate presentation to honor restaurants in UBU canteens who have met accredited food sanitation standards, an exhibition displaying a recycling waste bank project, products made of recycled waste from the “zero waste” project. The project aims to reduce waste, promote products made of recycled materials and create value from waste. At the event, research projects conducted by lectures and students of the Public Health Science Program were presented through an exhibition. At the end of the event, all participants helped clean risk areas of exposure to germs in the canteen.
