On 18 July 2020, UBU and Ubon Ratchathani Provincial Transport Office co-organized a workshop on the promotion of ethics and morality in the transportation field. Additionally, a driving license examination was organized for UBU students and staff members. Ms. Charuayporn Santhaweesuk, Vice President for Student Development and Alumni Relations, presided over the event. The event aimed to provide knowledge about and improve people’s awareness of Thailand’s traffic regimen, and to promote road safety for UBU students and staff members, and one hundred participants participated. The workshop was delivered by Mr. Kriskamol Nunthawong, Head of the Driving License Section at Ubon Ratchathani Provincial Transport Office including a lecture on traffic law and discipline, a color blindness test and a driving test. Those who completed the workshop and passed the tests would be eligible to apply for a driving license.

Ms. Charuayporn Santhaweesuk stated that road accidents are one of the most important causes of the loss of human life, injury or disability as well as property damage for both drivers and other accident victims. From many surveys, it was found that motorcycles are the cause of most road accidents in Thailand.  Therefore, UBU organized this project to raise students’ and staff members’ awareness of traffic laws and ethics. The project was divided into 3 phrases: the first phrase was from 18-19 July 2020, the second phrase was from the 25th to the 26th of July 2020 and the third phrase will be organized 1-2 August 2020.

UBU strongly hopes that this project will enhance people’s road safety skills and their long-term awareness of traffic laws and ethics to appreciably reduce the amount of road accidents.
