(21-04-2020) The COVID-19 situation has affected both the Thai and the international residents of Ubon. At UBU, our international teachers and students need to renew their visas at regular intervals. To mitigate the impact from the temporary closure of immigration offices, 90-day visas have now been automatically renewed.

The Immigration Bureau has temporarily closed 7 immigration offices in northeast Thailand: the offices at Nam Hueang Friendship Bridge in Loei, the First Thai–Lao Friendship Bridge in Nong Khai, the Second Thai–Lao Friendship Bridge in Mukdahan, the Third Thai–Lao Friendship Bridge in Nakhonphanom, Chong Chom in Surin, Chong Sa-ngam in Srisaket, and Chong Mek in Ubon Ratchathani. Operations at these offices have been halted until 30 April 2020 or until further notice. We will inform you when there are more updates.

To help the international community, the Immigration Bureau has offered an automatic visa extension for all visa types which have not expired prior to 26 March 2020. Foreigners of all nationalities residing in Thailand can stay and work in Thailand until 30 April 2020 without having to apply for an extension.
