UBU participated in Phra Prathumworarat Suriyawong (Champhong, Founder of Ubon Ratchathani) remembrance 2020

On the 10th of November 2020, Dr. Piyanat Soikham, Assistant to the President for Organisational Communication and Social Engagement, and Assistant Professor Dr. Chalermchai Wongrak, Assistant to the President for International Relations and Education, led UBU staff and students to participate in a parade for the Phra Prathumworarat Suriyawong (Champhong) commemoration for 2020. The parade included the governor’s insignia and traditional music playing. This event was organized to pay homage to Phra Prathumworarat Suriyawong (Champhong), who founded Ubon Ratchathani. The parade started from Wat Luang and proceeded to the Phra Prathumworarat Suriyawong statue, Thung Sri Mueang Park.
 
Mr. Sarit Witoon, the Governor of Ubon Ratchathani presided over the event, and he led the parade to Thung Sri Mueang Park. The parade included the government sector, private organizations, and other people from Ubon Ratchathani and nearby provinces to offer Khan Mak Beng and pay homage to the Phra Prathumworarat Suriyawong statue. Government officers, and students among others, performed traditional dances to honor Phra Prathumworarat Suriyawong. This event is annually organized on the 10th of November for his remembrance, and includes an exhibit of the Ubon Ratchathani story.
