Mr. Ponnared Moonmuangsaen, Head of the Office of Educational Quality Development, along with the staff, organized the “Khok Nong Na” activity at the Sisaengtham School, Khong Jiam, Ubon Ratchathani on January 26, 2021.  This involves new agricultural concepts based on New Theory Agriculture and the Sufficiency Economy philosophy initiated by King Rama IX. This activity was hosted under a project entitled “Educational Quality and Local Development through Training from the Institute of Education”. The activities were provided for 2 parts. In the morning, the workshop provided planting and tending sunflowers, sulfur cosmos, and purple sweet potatoes. In the afternoon, the participants were asked to practice sowing sunflower, sulfur cosmos, and peanut seeds enabling participants to engage in “hands-on learning” about planting.

UBU has supported this activity by providing young plants/seeds and lecturers for the activity. The students and teachers who participated in the activity learned and practiced planting skills from UBU experts directly.

This activity integrated agricultural knowledge for local and societal development, according to the UBU mission statement to be “A Public University for the People” and conform to the UBU vision “To be a leading university in ASEAN, foster higher quality of life, development and innovation”.
