On 16 January 2018, UBU hosted the 63rd Teachers’ Day at the His Majesty’s 7th Cycle Birthday Anniversary Commemorating Building, Ubon Ratchathani University. The event was led by Mr. Sarit Witoon, the provincial governor of Ubon Ratchathani Province. There were more than 4,000 teachers/educational personnel from all over the country who were in attendance. The theme of the event this year was “teachers with morality createhonest children.” The activities included a worship ceremony and a presentation of awards to outstanding teachers.

The first organized Teachers’ Day was on 16 January1957 which was also used to worship and show respect to teachers.  Since then, the date of 16 January was set as the national annual event under the cabinet resolution of 21 November 1956.

Thai people believe that teachers are accepted as second mothers or fathers who teach people knowledge and morality. They also help mold individuals to reach their fullest potential to be agents of change that will continue to drive and develop Thailand into a better country.
