On 27 August 2019, the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences and the International Relations Office (IR) co-organized a welcoming orientation for distinguished guests including lecturers, staff and students from the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Health Sciences, Cambodia. They are at UBU to complete an observation of the learning and teaching management of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences at UBU. They are also exploring the available laboratories and participating in classroom activities organized by the faculty. The total duration of their study visit is from 26 August 2019 to 31 August 2019.
In order to ensure their safe arrival to Ubon Ratchathani, IR arranged transportation to pick up the 3 lecturers, 2 staff members, and 56 students at Chong Sa-ngam check point, Sisaket province on 26 August 2019. The official welcoming ceremony was held at the Office of the President Building from 09.00-11.00 am on 27 August 2019. On this special occasion,Assistant Professor Dr. Chutinun Prasitpuriprecha, President, presided the opening of the meeting through a warm welcome speech. She highlighted past interactions between the two universities before the MoU was officially signed and expressed her hopes for even more activities in the future. Afterward, Mr. Eang Rothmony, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Health Sciences delivered a kind and enthusiastic response expressing both his thanks to UBU and his mutual hope of further collaborations between the two universities. Furthermore, Dr. Saksit Sripa, Dean of Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, also delivered a welcome speech on behalf of his faculty. Along with his speech, he insightfully presented a brief overview of the available programs, activities, and international partnerships of the faculty. Additionally, Assistant Professor Dr. Chalermchai Wongrak, Assistant to the President for International Relations and Education, and IR staff also participated in the welcoming event by setting up registration, engaging in friendly productive conversations and exchanging helpful information.
Moreover, on behalf of the IR Office, Ms. Thaviny Shaipitisiri, English Consultant at IR office and the MC of the event, gave a general overview of UBU’s information and provided guidance on studying and living on campus.
Initially, the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences had its first cooperation with the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Health Sciences, Cambodia through a professor visit a few years ago. However, it wasn’t until 10 January 2019 when UBU and University of Health Sciences, Cambodia officially signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) together. This agreement formally sustained the relationship between the two institutions and serves as a foundation for future activities such as: exchange of personnel, collaborative staff development programs, exchange of academic information and materials, organization of joint research program and other academic exchanges agreed by UBU and University of Health Sciences, Cambodia. Therefore, this visit by the lecturers, staff and students from University of Health Sciences, Cambodia marks the first official academic activity carried under the MoU.
In the future, UBU wishes to expand the collaborative activities and strengthen the relationship with University of Health Sciences, Cambodia.
