College of Medicine and Public Health visited Bung Wai community to follow up a community service activity under the Research Project on Semi-urban communities’ Preparation for Agi

On 13 August 2019, Mr. Sitthichai Chaikhan, lecturer and head of the research project, led a group of researchers from the College of Medicine and Public Health to visit the Bung Wai community. The objectives of the visit were to follow up on their research project calledSemi-urban communities’Preparation for Aging Society: Bung Wai Sub-district, Warin Chamrap. Additionally, two renovated houses for two individual disabled senior citizens were presented in order to help them live more comfortable and safe lives. On this special occasion, Mr. Thanakom Kongpian, Sheriff of Warin Chamrap District, presided over the presentation ceremony. There were also more distinguished guests from the Ubon Ratchathani Provincial Social Development and Human Security office, Bung Wai Sub-district Administration Organization, leaders of the communities, community’s health volunteers and staff of Bung Wai Health Promotion Hospital who participated in the ceremony.

The houses were successfully built through the cooperation of the people in the communities. They donated materials and helped build the houses together. The recipients of the renovated houses were Ms. Plang Yuenyong who lives in Tha Ngoi Village and Ms. Dee Payarat who lives in Bung Wai Village.

This research project was sponsored bythe Thailand Science Research and Innovation (TSRI). It is part of a serial project that focuses on and emphasizes preparation for the Aging Society. 

The College of Medicine and Public health will keep conducting more research projects in order to promote the quality of people’s life, especially for the senior citizens.
