On the 5th of December, 2020, the Office of Student Development, Ubon Ratchathani University (UBU), organized volunteer activities for Father’s Day at a university parking lot (Gate A1). There were UBU students, staff and representatives from community organizations to clean up and renovate the landscape on the road in front of university and at the university. This event was organized for offering homage to King Rama IX, on the occasion of his birthday. Assistant Professor Dr. Chutinun Prasitpuriprecha, UBU President presided over the activity and Mr. Tawan Boonsong, the Chairman of UBU student council, offered a speech. The government sector, community and private organizations and more than 300 UBU students cooperated to make this event happen.

Dr. Charuayporn Santhaweesuk, the Vice President for Student Development and Alumni Relations, lauded the volunteer activities put together by students, staff, and the community, to pay homage to King Rama IX on the occasion of his birthday. During his enthronement (70 years), he was firmly endowed with the virtues of a great king and devoted himself to all types of benevolent activities for solving problems on behalf of the people. His royal grace and infinite mercy are still honored by Thai people to this day.

The volunteer activities included not only cleaning the grounds but also involved taking blood donations at the 7th Cycle of the King’s Birthday Convention Hall, UBU, organized by Sunpasitthiprasong Hospital. This event followed the royal philosophy to do heartfelt good deeds that all people might live in harmony, cooperate for the public good and happily do so without thought of reward. The philosophy of the King also involved supporting relationships and love for the nation, religion, King and people.

Moreover, this activity is also landscape preparation to welcome the UBU students who graduated from UBU (the 29th assemblage) and their families at the Graduation Day Ceremony for the academic year 2019, planned for the 16th of December, 2020.
